..photoshop funnies..

Chris over at AMR showed me some of these comics, and oh my gosh are they funny!! Anyone who uses Photoshop will crack up. The artist's name is Aaron Johnson and you can find his site here. Click on them to made them readable :)

..from 12 to 26 in 10 seconds flat..

I can remember riding in the truck with my dad when I was about 12. And he said to me, "You're going to blink your eyes, and you'll be driving. Then you'll blink again and you'll be graduating high school. A couple more blinks, then comes college and marriage."

At 12 years old, that conversation didn't mean a lot to me. But now, I understand just how much truth there was in his words. It seriously feels like 6 months ago I was still in college, but it's been 4 years. Last month I celebrated my 26th birthday. I know it may not seem like a big deal, but suddenly, I'm in a new bracket. You know when you fill out a questionnaire, and they have those age brackets? I'm no longer in the 18-25 one. I just blew through that!! Life is just funny because you can make plans, and have expectations, and usually everything turns out totally different. I'm not where I thought I would be at 26, but I am very happy where I am. And even though it's been a month, I finally scrapped my pictures of me on my birthday. I may be in a whole new bracket, but I'm excited to see what happens :)

..so this is why..

Some people may or may not know that I collect things.. lots of things.. several different types of things. And I'm often asked why. Why not just collect one thing? Jeff collects airplanes, that's it. I, on the other hand, have sooooo many. And I guess it's time I explain why. By the way, these are in no particular order.. I'm very adamant and loving towards every single one of my collections, whether big or small!

*Cupcake stuff: I love cupcake stuff because when I worked at a bakery, that's what they called me, "Cupcake." I could whip out cupcakes like no one's business. When a holiday was coming up, and we had to have 2000 cupcakes done a day (yes, a day!) I was the one that did them, and I loved every single minute of it. The ladies were older, and this was a very loving and endearing nickname. They actually started my collection for me!

*Alice in Wonderland: She has been my favorite Disney character since I could remember watching movies. I used to dress up like her all the time (and I still do, every Halloween!) I loved the silliness and fantasy-appeal of Wonderland, and the Cheshire Cat is just adorable :)

*Koalas: They are just simply the cutest animal EVER! So fuzzy and cuddly and.. I mean, c'mon.. just look at one and tell me it isn't adorable!

*Tigger stuff: My obsession with Tigger started when I stole a stuffed Tigger from my brother's pile of gifts from Santa when I was 6. He was only a month old, he never knew! I still have that Tigger at least. Then sometime later I got the nickname Tiggs. Which was later added to Haya (what my brother and sister called me when they were little, because they couldn't say Harley!) and now I'm known on most message board as HayaTiggs :)

*Sand: This is probably my wackiest collection :) It started when a friend of mine was going to Arizona to look at a college. I said, "Bring me something back!" He said, "Like what?" And I said, "I dunno, what do they have there, sand?" And sure enough he did. Now I collect it from all over the world. I even have some from the top of the Moon Temple in Mexico! The ultimate sand that I have to get before I die though, is Australian sand.. goes back to the koalas :)

*Bottles and Boxes: I dunno why, the bottles probably because that's what I put my sand in.. otherwise, there's no reason for it. I just love boxes and bottles.

There you have it. Sorry it was long, but what can I say? I'm a collector :)

..lots to do..

Just a heads up on a couple of things on my calendar this week..

This Thursday, chat it up with us over at All Moments Remembered for Scrap Chat Hour. The times vary every week, so check the website for details. So if you like fun conversation, late-night girl fun and RAKs, you should join in! *Warning* I cannot be held responsible if pictures of Gerard Butler or Brad Pitt happen to make their way into the chat threads :)

This weekend, starting early on Friday the 24th, there will be a great online crop at Coordinates Collections. The crop will be sponsored by Teresa Collins, so there will be lots of challenges with great prizes, plus discounts, woo hoo!

So now that you know where I'll be later this week, come chat with me :)

..it's fixed!..

Finally, finally my computer is fixed and back to it's old self. Actually, it's better than it's old self, it's reverted back to a brand new computer (thank you new Windows install!) I'm terribly sorry that I haven't posted more lately. This was just one of the websites that my computer didn't want me going to... still not sure why that happened.

Anyway, updates. Well, I made it to Round 3 of the Survivor contest over at AMR, but sadly, my latest layout didn't survive. But the upside is, now I can show them off! Lol. And I may not have made it all the way, but at least I did get some of my wedding photos scrapped (only a year and a half later!)

Week 1-Use the lyrics to a song in your challenge. You probably can't read mine, but it is the lyrics to the song "Watch the Wind Blow By" by Tim McGraw.

Week 2-Had to have a tranquil feeling, using the colors blue, tan and orange, and you could only use 1 solid color paper and 2 patterned papers.

Week 3
-Had to create your own embellishments. I hand-drew and cut the flourishes from blue felt, then layered flowers and buttons for accents.

..it's so hateful..

Well, I called it. The computer did just what I said, dangled those websites in front of my face for a day, then yanked them right back, lol. Today, it's letting me again. But I know I'm just in for a let-down :)

The up-side is, without being able to go to all of my websites, I have actually gotten some creating done! If the computer lets me, I will be back later on today to show you.

Happy Friday everyone!! :)

..computers confuse me..

So for no reason, my computer has decided I can now go to any website I want.. guess it felt bad for teasing me for a week. Who knows, it might just be dangling them in front of my face for a day, just to take them away again.

Anyway, I'm so terribly excited. I got a new toy yesterday... wanna see it?! :)

iPhone!!! I'm so in love with this thing. Jeff and I both got one, so last night I don't think we said anything to each other besides, "Hey, look what this does!" or, "Man, this is so cool!!" We're worse than kids on Christmas, I'm not kidding :)

I also managed to get some pages done.. one I can't show you yet because it's for the Survivor Challenge. But here's a quickie I did last night. Sorry for the angled photo, but Jeff had the good camera, so I had to angle it to avoid a flash :P

..phooey on technology..

Well I do apologize for my absence. My computer has been acting up and it seems that it won't let me come here to my blog, nor will it let me go to anyone else's! Isn't that awful? Ugh!

Anyway, I had to wait for hubby to come home, then jack his laptop so I could give you a quick little update. Good news, I made it on to Round 3 of the Scrapbook Survivor Challenge on the All Moments Remembered board. Yipee! Lots of scrapping done, but I can't show some of it yet. I've applied for some Guest Design team spots, and I've just gotta wait to see how that goes.

Anyway, hubby needs his laptop back (what's more important than blogging?!)

Hopefully my computer will be fixed soon... I miss all of you out there in BlogLand :(

..round two..

Well, I'm still on the island! :) All but 16 contestants were voted off.. this week's challenge gives us three colors to use, with 1 solid cardstock and two patterned papers.. the layout has to be tranquil. What?! Nothing in my life is tranquil!!

*sigh* Well at least I'm almost done with my Spring ATCs for a swap over on the CKMB. I got to cut out 11 of these little chicks last night.

This may sound weird, but I really like cutting stuff out. That layout of Raleigh below, I had to cut all that leafy stuff out. Call me a glutton for punishment. I dunno why I like it, but I do :)

**Update**
I got my ATCs done, yay! I hope all the recipients like them. I really like the way they turned out. Here's a pic, and then I have to go frost my coconut cake :)

..gotta love crops..

Well thanks to the online crop last night at All Moments Remembered, I actually got some scrapping done! There were lots of Challenges going on, and the one that was my favorite was put in by Jenn. You had to make a layout with 1 photo, then frame that photo with embellishments. I used this picture of Raleigh because I didn't like the grass on the left hand side anyway :)

I also got another layout done that I LOVE, but I can't post it yet, because it's for a Survivor Contest on the AMR Board. We had to do a layout using lyrics to a song.. I can at least tell you that I used the lyrics to "Watch the Wind Blow By" by Tim McGraw. I'll be able to post it once the contest is over, or once I get voted off, whichever comes first. (The latter I'm sure!) I'll make sure to update you on the progress though. The first round closes in the morning, with judging closing tomorrow night. So far there are 37 of us "on the island" lol :)

..mini mojo..

Well between the laundry, the dishes, breakfast, lunch, and getting all of Jeff's stuff together to go back to work tomorrow, I managed to be semi-creative.. My sister-in-law's birthday is next week, and she loves monkeys. I found the cutest journal at Target that has a felt monkey and palm tree on the front. I thought it only right that I make her a monkey birthday card too. The "Happy Birthday" is a Heidi Swapp acrylic, the monkey is an Autumn Leaves acrylic, and the palm tree background is all me. I didn't own a palm tree stamp, so I made the leaf shape out of foam and stamped it with green acrylic paint. The shiny part isn't really that shiny, it's glitter (flash from the camera, sorry!) Oh yeh, and the card isn't crooked, just my picture. I had something cooking on the stove and had to hurry :D

..quickie..

Ok, just a quick little blog this morning, and hopefully I will be back later with some finished scrappy projects.

Stacey over at All Moments Remembered has added some new stuff to the store, like the Making Memories 5th Ave. Spiral Journaling Book *squeal!* and the Flower Spiral Journaling Book. Tomorrow she will have in stock lots of colors of Staz-On. And if you haven't already, run, don't walk, to get your Basic Grey Sultry rub-ons!

*shh! I also have it on good authority that there will be some Wild Saffron papers added to the store verrry soon :)
