..last day of sign ups!..

Today is the last day sign-ups are open for the 13 Days of Halloween Swap! I can't wait to send out partners tomorrow. Everyone who emailed me to sign up should have received a confirmation reply back. If you didn't, then please let me know. I do not want to overlook anyone. Also, if have a Flickr account, I have the swap Flickr Group set up. Feel free to chat in there! Share ideas, give sneak peeks of what you might be sending to your partner, or talk it up about Halloween stuff. Remember, you have to keep up the communication in this swap. That is very important. I'm so excited about this swap, and I'm working hard to make sure it's a success for everyone. I would really like to have regular handmade swaps here.

I'm very excited that I got a new iPhone. I had a little mishap with my other one about a month ago. But I sold that one (yes, it sold even though it was shattered!) and bought a new one the other day, yay! :)

And, I managed to get Lori's row done for the Row Robin quilt row swap. She wanted her rows to be blue and yellow, and just have a happy feel. Other than that, she left it up to us. So this is what I came up with..

I see Blue Jays hopping around my backyard all the time and they make me happy, so that's what I made for her row! Seeing them in a row makes me want to do a whole quilt of birds like this. I hope she likes it :)

Now I'm off to start cleaning house. We spent all weekend kayaking and playing outside that my house has been neglected :)

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..hot august day..

Welcome to another month.. they go by faster and faster it seems. Quickie post for today, I have lots of indoor and outdoor work to get done. I managed to finish my block for Bumble Bean's Pixiedust Gather Project. I didn't want to get too crazy since I had a limited amount of fabric. I decided to make a block that I knew I could do, so there would be no ripping or re-cutting involved :)

Sorry for the bad quality of the pic.. hubby has the good camera with him in Wisconsin.

I have 6 weeks left until I leave on my Anniversary cruise with the hubbo. And I got on the scale yesterday and all I could do was laugh to keep from freaking out over the number it spit out. So I made a decision. Starting today, for the next 6 weeks... no bread. I mean that. Bread and I have a love affair, but it really hates my belly and my rear. So none, starting today. I think I can do it. I'm motivated see, because I have this cruise coming up. So it starts today... good thing I finished that entire bag of breadsticks last night, huh? :)

..brandy's baby shower..

Well the baby shower was great. Brandy got tons of girly stuff! It was pink everywhere you looked. She decided to paint the baby's room light pink and chocolate brown. And she described it as "modern," which is what inspired the cake I made..

I should also mentioned that she has decided to name the baby Ashlynn, which is the reason for the "A" on top :) And I finished the baby quilt at about midnight last night, lol. But it turned out really nice. And it was fun to do all of that squiggly quilting :)

And now I'm pooped! I want to get in my jammies and lounge around on the couch and watch a movie. It feels like a comfy kinda night :)

..in the pink!..

My husband's friend and his wife had a beautiful baby girl yesterday morning. She's adorable with a full head of dark hair. Big congratulations Napo and Sally! :)

Good thing I spent yesterday cutting out these..

Piecing them into these..

and sewing those into this today..

Now please excuse my nowhere near perfect points. I've never done a project with so many points.. I thought I was going to go crazy trying to make everything line up. Then I just decided that it wasn't going to be perfect, but it's a gift from the heart, and that's what matters, right? It won't be any less snuggly because my points aren't perfect. Hopefully I can get it quilted and in the mail this weekend. Hopefully :)

Also spent some time making some of these..

And it reverses into this..

I'm all about the reversible-ness :D I like making my own headbands because apparently I have a smallish head, and those elastic around-the-head headbands don't stay on. And the plastic half-headbands must hit some pressure point right behind my ears because they kill me! So I love these fabric ones.. and I can customize, ha!

On one last note, if you live in Melbourne and wanna help a fellow crafty sister out, my friend Sandra is in a bit of a predicament. She's offering incentives to help :) You can find out all about it at her Pepperberry & Co. blog.

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..got in some stitchin'..

I finally started sewing on my husband's quilt. The bag of fabric strips has been staring at me all day, so I decided to just start it. Even if I only got a little done, I wanted to start it. See, my husband knows I love to sew. He even bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas. But it wasn't all selfless. He has made it known from the very beginning that he wants a quilt. One to call his very own that he can sleep under. At least he didn't put a deadline on me, lol. So I decided to join in the 2009 Coin Quilt Piece-Along and have that be the design for his quilt. He picked some colors, and even picked out some of the fabric. And so for the last couple of hours, I have been stitching coin rows. This is what I've gotten done so far:

(excuse the loose threads hanging all over the place.. and it hasn't been ironed yet either)

Those are two out of the (hopefully if I have enough strips) five coin rows I want to put on the quilt. Here is a better look at some of the fabrics I'm using..

I have to admit, I wasn't sure how the brown would look, but when he picked out the blue fabric with the brown dots, it really tied it all in together. And the darkness of the brown breaks up the row. I like it, a lot :) It will be a queen sized quilt for our bed when it's finished. He has been very adamant that it be a "big quilt" that he can cover himself completely with. That concern started when I made myself a lap quilt last fall. Just something to cover up with when I'm laying on the couch watching tv. Of course, hubbo's a great deal taller than I am, and the lap quilt doesn't cover him all the way. I've assured him, his quilt will be big enough to cover us both :)

Sudafed time. My sinuses are all messed up.

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!
