..let the festivities begin..

I will try to post wonderfully mad tea party posts all day long. Something to keep you all coming back for more, lol :) To kick it off, I'll show you some of the fantastic items I received from Julie for the Mad Hatter Tea Party Swap.

Any time you open a box to see red tissue paper, you know it's going to be good :) Look at this awesome vintage Alice tea set she sent.

Then there's some little nibbles to nosh on all day :)

And she sent some items for the Queen, you know, so she wouldn't get upset... you know she has a temper!

And oh, this beautiful book with its beautiful spoon handle...

And tucked inside this altered book are all kinds of little goodies to find...

So there begins my tea party madness. I promise, there will be more :)

And if you haven't already, head over to A Fanciful Twist to see a whole big list of all of the blogs that are having a party today :)

..ooh, i cannot even tell you..

how excited I am. For what you ask? Oh man... just look..

Of course I knew it was coming, but they've finally released gobs of info on it, including pictures :)

I feel faint.. where's a paper bag?

Now, everyone who knows me, knows I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. I was incredibly upset when they pushed the latest movie back to make room for vampires. But as much as I cannot wait for July to get here so I can go see Harry in Imax, you just don't know how I reeeeallly cannot wait for March 2010 to go see Tim Burton's Alice. It will be my birthday present :) I love Tim Burton in all of his weirdness and darkness. This remake is probably going to be my favorite ever. I can feel it already. The cast is amazing. Of course Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter had to be in it. Ah, be still my rapidly beating heart. I was going to try and save this post for the Mad Tea Party scheduled for later this week, but I couldn't help myself. I had to show you all :) Here are some more pictures of the set, like the beautifully creepy flower garden. And then you can go here to have a virtual look around Wonderland too.

..in the pink!..

My husband's friend and his wife had a beautiful baby girl yesterday morning. She's adorable with a full head of dark hair. Big congratulations Napo and Sally! :)

Good thing I spent yesterday cutting out these..

Piecing them into these..

and sewing those into this today..

Now please excuse my nowhere near perfect points. I've never done a project with so many points.. I thought I was going to go crazy trying to make everything line up. Then I just decided that it wasn't going to be perfect, but it's a gift from the heart, and that's what matters, right? It won't be any less snuggly because my points aren't perfect. Hopefully I can get it quilted and in the mail this weekend. Hopefully :)

Also spent some time making some of these..

And it reverses into this..

I'm all about the reversible-ness :D I like making my own headbands because apparently I have a smallish head, and those elastic around-the-head headbands don't stay on. And the plastic half-headbands must hit some pressure point right behind my ears because they kill me! So I love these fabric ones.. and I can customize, ha!

On one last note, if you live in Melbourne and wanna help a fellow crafty sister out, my friend Sandra is in a bit of a predicament. She's offering incentives to help :) You can find out all about it at her Pepperberry & Co. blog.

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..got in some stitchin'..

I finally started sewing on my husband's quilt. The bag of fabric strips has been staring at me all day, so I decided to just start it. Even if I only got a little done, I wanted to start it. See, my husband knows I love to sew. He even bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas. But it wasn't all selfless. He has made it known from the very beginning that he wants a quilt. One to call his very own that he can sleep under. At least he didn't put a deadline on me, lol. So I decided to join in the 2009 Coin Quilt Piece-Along and have that be the design for his quilt. He picked some colors, and even picked out some of the fabric. And so for the last couple of hours, I have been stitching coin rows. This is what I've gotten done so far:

(excuse the loose threads hanging all over the place.. and it hasn't been ironed yet either)

Those are two out of the (hopefully if I have enough strips) five coin rows I want to put on the quilt. Here is a better look at some of the fabrics I'm using..

I have to admit, I wasn't sure how the brown would look, but when he picked out the blue fabric with the brown dots, it really tied it all in together. And the darkness of the brown breaks up the row. I like it, a lot :) It will be a queen sized quilt for our bed when it's finished. He has been very adamant that it be a "big quilt" that he can cover himself completely with. That concern started when I made myself a lap quilt last fall. Just something to cover up with when I'm laying on the couch watching tv. Of course, hubbo's a great deal taller than I am, and the lap quilt doesn't cover him all the way. I've assured him, his quilt will be big enough to cover us both :)

Sudafed time. My sinuses are all messed up.

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..oh yeh!..

No more jury duty for me, woot! I escaped not just one trial today, but two! They used the same pool of us to fill juries for two different trials. I managed to get out of both of them :) Although it took ALLLLL day. I got there at 8:30 this morning, and didn't get done until 5:00. But I did, however, get a whopping $10 check for my services.. sheesh, Alabama is cheap. But no jury duty.. whew!

Anyway.. When I first heard about the Painted Cow Parade several years ago, I knew I had to start buying the collectibles for my mom. She loved them. And I even got to see an exhibit of them in Houston and Atlanta. Then, along came the Trail of Painted Ponies. I started collecting them for my sister, but now I really want some for myself. Well, the hubbo and I went with some friends to Memphis a couple of weeks ago to get some sushi. And all over the city were painted ponies! Now, I'm not 100% sure if they were part of the official Trail of Painted Ponies, but it was still fun to try and spot them. And then it was even more fun for my hubbo to watch me try to get their pictures on the side of the highway, with 4 lanes of traffic whizzing by and honking :) So anyway, here are some of the ones we saw..

Aren't they so pretty?I think that last spirit pony is my favorite. And just because you all haven't seen my ugly mug in a while, I'll throw this in.. I got tired of looking at my naked forehead, so I went and got bangs cut :)

Please keep in mind that it was hot.. and a lil' sweaty. So my bangs aren't living up to their full potential :D *gosh, I just realized what my hubs says is true, my eyebrows ARE really light!* Alright, I'm off to get my crafty swap goods ready to mail. They were supposed to go in today, but I was busy.. you know :)

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!
