..i love patterns..

I'm fortunate enough to have several craft/fabric stores in my city. About every couple of weeks, at least one of them will run a sale on sewing patterns. They usually lower them to $1.99, and occasionally they lower them to $.99. At either price, I try to stock up. Last week I snagged some Simplicity patterns on sale. I found some really cute ones for dresses for the girls. Here's a few of them..

Now if someone would just run "free time" on sale, I'd buy that up! :)

..hot august day..

Welcome to another month.. they go by faster and faster it seems. Quickie post for today, I have lots of indoor and outdoor work to get done. I managed to finish my block for Bumble Bean's Pixiedust Gather Project. I didn't want to get too crazy since I had a limited amount of fabric. I decided to make a block that I knew I could do, so there would be no ripping or re-cutting involved :)

Sorry for the bad quality of the pic.. hubby has the good camera with him in Wisconsin.

I have 6 weeks left until I leave on my Anniversary cruise with the hubbo. And I got on the scale yesterday and all I could do was laugh to keep from freaking out over the number it spit out. So I made a decision. Starting today, for the next 6 weeks... no bread. I mean that. Bread and I have a love affair, but it really hates my belly and my rear. So none, starting today. I think I can do it. I'm motivated see, because I have this cruise coming up. So it starts today... good thing I finished that entire bag of breadsticks last night, huh? :)

..brandy's baby shower..

Well the baby shower was great. Brandy got tons of girly stuff! It was pink everywhere you looked. She decided to paint the baby's room light pink and chocolate brown. And she described it as "modern," which is what inspired the cake I made..

I should also mentioned that she has decided to name the baby Ashlynn, which is the reason for the "A" on top :) And I finished the baby quilt at about midnight last night, lol. But it turned out really nice. And it was fun to do all of that squiggly quilting :)

And now I'm pooped! I want to get in my jammies and lounge around on the couch and watch a movie. It feels like a comfy kinda night :)

..this and that..

Went and saw Potter last night. I really enjoyed it. I know there are a lot of people who are upset because it left a lot of the things in the book out. But, isn't that what books are for? Details? I mean, of course, I'm always going to wish the movies were longer, just because I love them so. But I think they did a really good job with this one. It was a little darker than the others, but there was also a good bit of humor in it. Very nice :)

Also, I finally got the little girl baby blanket stitched up and shipped off. At least I got it mailed before the baby turned a month old. Actually, she's a month old today, and it should make it to them today. So it was actually like a birthday present. I'm cleverer than I thought, lol :) This is the finished product..

I have mondo amounts of laundry to do today. We're going to the mountains this weekend to go rafting, and I'm afraid the hubbo has no clean shorts. So that's what my Thursday will consist of, laundry. I know you're all jealous :D

Since laundry = sucky and I like to end on a high note, here's a LOLcat for you that reminds me of my kitty. Except hers always end up under the stove...

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..in the pink!..

My husband's friend and his wife had a beautiful baby girl yesterday morning. She's adorable with a full head of dark hair. Big congratulations Napo and Sally! :)

Good thing I spent yesterday cutting out these..

Piecing them into these..

and sewing those into this today..

Now please excuse my nowhere near perfect points. I've never done a project with so many points.. I thought I was going to go crazy trying to make everything line up. Then I just decided that it wasn't going to be perfect, but it's a gift from the heart, and that's what matters, right? It won't be any less snuggly because my points aren't perfect. Hopefully I can get it quilted and in the mail this weekend. Hopefully :)

Also spent some time making some of these..

And it reverses into this..

I'm all about the reversible-ness :D I like making my own headbands because apparently I have a smallish head, and those elastic around-the-head headbands don't stay on. And the plastic half-headbands must hit some pressure point right behind my ears because they kill me! So I love these fabric ones.. and I can customize, ha!

On one last note, if you live in Melbourne and wanna help a fellow crafty sister out, my friend Sandra is in a bit of a predicament. She's offering incentives to help :) You can find out all about it at her Pepperberry & Co. blog.

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..show some sewing love..

Happy February all! (I know I'm a couple of days late, cut me some slack, lol)

Just wanted to show the super cute package I got in the mail. It was from the ultra-talented Dawn @ Sew Ritzy-Titzy.

Isn't that mini quilt just the sweetest? Just look at all of the stitching detail. And that pincushion is just adorable. I mean like, if it had cheeks, I would pinch them :D Thank you so so much Dawn! :) There were also some Hershey kisses in the package, but they seemed to have mysteriously disappeared...

And here is a little peek at what I sent my partner.

It's one of my very comfy scarves, backed with light pink flannel. I hope she likes it :)

..coffee anyone?..

I finished my apron for the Hot Drinks for Hot Mamas Apron Swap. My partner said she likes coffee and tea, so this is appropriate for both. I really hope she likes it :) I spent about 3 hours total just doing the embroidery on it. But I really like how it turned out.

I hope she doesn't feel the white is too boring. I really wanted the pot and cups to stand out :) So this little guy will be on his way to a new home soon!
