..brandy's baby shower..

Well the baby shower was great. Brandy got tons of girly stuff! It was pink everywhere you looked. She decided to paint the baby's room light pink and chocolate brown. And she described it as "modern," which is what inspired the cake I made..

I should also mentioned that she has decided to name the baby Ashlynn, which is the reason for the "A" on top :) And I finished the baby quilt at about midnight last night, lol. But it turned out really nice. And it was fun to do all of that squiggly quilting :)

And now I'm pooped! I want to get in my jammies and lounge around on the couch and watch a movie. It feels like a comfy kinda night :)

..well..

Apple wouldn't fix my phone for free... I had to ask. But it looks like I can sell it on Ebay for the same price as a new one. So I'll just do that and then fork out $399 for a brand spankin' new one.

Put a new cake up on my Sugar on Top Facebook Page. It looks like this...

And after tomorrow you'll get to see pics of the cake and quilt I'm doing for a baby shower. Guess I better get that finished, huh? :)

..horrifying..

Do you want to see something horrible? Something really gut-wrenching? It was so awful I got nauseous. I couldn't look at first.. I'll show you, but this is me warning you. If you have a weak stomach, look at it with one eye closed...

I went from the 2G to the 3Gs. My new baby was less than a week old. We got home from our rafting trip late last night. I was getting out of the car, and was holding my phone, a pillow, a to-go box from dinner, and hubbo's man-bag. I turned to get up out of my seat and it just fell. It hit, and made this horrible noise. It was 1am, yet in the small sliver of moonlight I could see its face, shattered. I was so angry and sad. If there is a bright side to this, it's that the LCD touch-screen wasn't hurt. All that's broken is the glass screen. I can still use it, although I have to be really careful because it is, after all, shattered glass. I've already picked a couple of small shards out of my fingers. I will be heading to the Apple store on Thursday to see what they can do. They can fix it for $300 (I'm nauseous again), but I have heard tales that some Apple employees will actually fix broken screens for free. You better believe I will be walking in to the store with my best puppy-dog-eyes-damsel-in-distress look. I'll let you know when I know..

..this and that..

Went and saw Potter last night. I really enjoyed it. I know there are a lot of people who are upset because it left a lot of the things in the book out. But, isn't that what books are for? Details? I mean, of course, I'm always going to wish the movies were longer, just because I love them so. But I think they did a really good job with this one. It was a little darker than the others, but there was also a good bit of humor in it. Very nice :)

Also, I finally got the little girl baby blanket stitched up and shipped off. At least I got it mailed before the baby turned a month old. Actually, she's a month old today, and it should make it to them today. So it was actually like a birthday present. I'm cleverer than I thought, lol :) This is the finished product..

I have mondo amounts of laundry to do today. We're going to the mountains this weekend to go rafting, and I'm afraid the hubbo has no clean shorts. So that's what my Thursday will consist of, laundry. I know you're all jealous :D

Since laundry = sucky and I like to end on a high note, here's a LOLcat for you that reminds me of my kitty. Except hers always end up under the stove...

Peace, love and koala fuzz y'all!

..birthday bash..

*I am warning you now, there will be lots of pics in this post!*

This past weekend, 3 of my favorite boys in the whole world celebrated birthdays... my nephews. Charles turned 8 on Friday, Connor turned 6 on Saturday (they're brothers), and Matthew turned 15 on Sunday (he's their cousin). Talk about a busy, cake-filled weekend :)

So Saturday was Charles and Connor's party was on Saturday.

They thought this was so funny..

In the next shot you can see the confusion on Connor's face. It's because we got him the Transformers Wii game. But they didn't have a Wii. So I told them I must have got the wrong kind, and that I would have to take it back..

But this was the next present they opened.. (I love the face)

Then we managed to pull them away from it long enough to let them whack their pinatas..

Charles had gotten turned around, and was headed towards the crowd. I've never seen grown men move so fast :D

Connor knew he liked Pixi sticks, but had never eaten a blue one..

Lol, he didn't like it :)

Then Sunday was Matthew's birthday. Being 15, he just wanted some hamburgers and cake. He's a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, and asked me to make his cake, and I happily obliged.

Then came the silliness..

Then it just got hilarious :)

It was a great weekend :)

..appreciate those cows!..

It's Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A! If you have one near you, just go dressed as a cow and receive a free meal. I mean, how fun is that?! And if you don't happen to have a cow costume lying around, you can visit the Chick-fil-A website and they have a printable one for you there!

Hubbo and I will be going, and yes, there will be pictures here later :)

ETA: Aren't we moo-tiful?! :D

It was windy, so our "ears" kept flying all over the place :D

..is it 3-9, or 7-12?..

Ok, so tomorrow is 07.08.09 and there's a lot of hubbub going on. Some people say that it's cooler to celebrate at 3:45.06, so it will be 3:45.06 7.8.09... others are saying that's it's better to celebrate at 10:11.12, making it 7.8.09 10:11.12.. what do you think? I'm thinking I should just celebrate all day :) Are y'all planning anything? Gonna take a picture of the clock next to the calendar? Maybe just a "what was happening when.." sorta thing? I'd be interested to see all the ways people celebrate tomorrow.

Can I just tell you how excited I am that in a little over a week, I will be showering my eyes and ears with this wonderfulness?!

Squeee!! :D

..it's july!..

Holy cow, this summer is running by at lightspeed. I've got so much to do. When summer starts, you know I have to cut our grass like, every couple of days. And if it rains? Well then it feels like I have to cut it every couple of hours! It grows so fast..

I also have lots to do cake-wise this month. I have an anniversary cake to make for Friday, a teenage boy's birthday cake in 2 weeks, and a Baby Shower cake at the end of the month. But let me tell ya, I'd much rather be busy making cakes than be busy doing dishes or something stupid like that :D Speaking of my cakes, I started a new Flickr account to put all of my pictures there, in case anyone wants to have a gander at them.. I really wish I had started taking photos of my stuff back before I decided to do cakes as a business. One of my favorites is a Mickey Mouse birthday cake I did for a coworker's little boy. It was adorable, and I didn't take a single picture. Hmm, I wonder where he works now, maybe I can track him down :D

I leave you with a picture of my Quality Control Supervisor. Whenever I'm sewing, she's there watching, making sure I'm doing things right..

She's a tough one I tell ya..
