..end of an era..

I officially feel old... my baby sister (8 years younger than me) graduated high school tonight. It was such a wonderful ceremony. There was only 22 in her graduating class, so every single one of them were friends, and with all of the emotions running crazy, you could tell how much everyone would miss each other. My little sister cried from the moment they walked out until well after it was over :) I did manage to get some shots that weren't as red-puffy-eyed as the rest. So I have a brother that will turn 20 in a few months, and a sister that just graduated high school... I feel old. Only because I helped raise these kids. I mean, from the time they were babies, it was just me and mom. I've watched them grow and change into the wonderful young adults that they are, and I can't help but be proud.. *sniff*

I'm not gonna cry...

So, with an excuse to make something, I took inspiration from my photo below and made some graduation cards. This one was for my sister, made with Pink Paislee paper, Thickers, Studio G stamps & my new bottle of Diamond Stickles. The centers of the flowers are rhinestone and felted brads, and that little butterfly is a stamped image on some wire that hubby gave me :)

This next one is for my only girl cousin Sarah, who also graduated tonight. It is made with more Pink Paislee paper, some ribbon from the Target dollar spot, Thickers & Stickles.

This last card was made one of my sister's friends who I think alot of. She is such a sweet girl and I had to make her a card too. It was a quickie made with Making Memories paper, scallop punch and yet another Thicker :)

If you haven't yet, take a look at the post underneath this one. You still have lots of time left to get your entries in for the giveaway!

..sushi & some inspiration..

What happens when you spend 3 days out of town with no computer? You come back to 200 emails, 170 new blog posts to read and no new projects to show :) Jeff had to do some of his yearly training in Memphis earlier this week, and I thought I'd just go with him. While he was in class, I got to shop, woo hoo!

So like I said, no projects, but I do have a couple of things to share. First of all, our favorite restaurant in Memphis is called Sekisui. There are several of them, but our favorite is the one in Collierville. Tell me this sushi doesn't look yum-mee!!!

Ok, now for something fun. I love Domino Magazine, and their website. I love looking through the online gallery for great color combos and patterns that I can use in my projects. This morning I came across this one that just jumped right off the screen, slapped me in the face and yelled, "USE ME!!"

Isn't it fabulous?! So, if it inspires you too, do something with it! Then comment here with a link to your project and how it inspired you. From all of the projects submitted, I will randomly select 1 to win some Happies. And, if you tell me I'm on your Google Reader, I'll throw in an extra something. You have until 10pm CST on Sunday, June 8th to show me your stuff! :)

..card night..

I'm tickled to death, I got a new entertainment center today! Jeff designed it, and my uncle built it for us. It takes up one entire wall of our living room. It was delivered today and I got so nervous. It had less than an inch clearance on all sides getting it through the door! But it's so pretty, and it's going to give us lots of shelf space. I have to paint it (black to match the rest of our living room furniture) and then I will post pictures of it.

I also managed to do a couple of cards tonight. Mr. Mojo paid a visit :) This one is for someone who just got some good news. I'm not going to tell who because that certain person just might read this blog :)

And this one is a quick little thank you note, based on a sketch at Taylored Expressions. The stamps on both cards are Studio G.

..boys are messy..

Hubby just left for work this morning, and I thought, "Good, now I can have scrappy time!" but then I realized what a mess he left! When he comes home, he leaves a trail of stuff all over the house. I get to spend the first couple of days after he leaves picking up after him! :)

So anyway, no finished projects yet, but I will share some fun stuff with you.

I'm taking part in a Funky Sock Exchange... you mail 1 pair and get back like, 30. I joined Corina's round, so if anyone reading this wants to join my round, let me know. And if you want more info about it, let me know that too :) You just mail out this letter to 6 people, and then mail out your 1 pair of socks. It's easy, really :)

Also, from Joscie's blog, I found AnySoldier. I'm going to get some people together to make some care packages to send. Whether or not the war is justified, there are still sons and daughters, fathers and mothers over seas fighting for this country. It's so sad when you read their "Wish List" and it says that a card with a simple "Thank You" means more than anything else they could receive.

Lastly, I'm a huge fan of Domino Magazine, and they have House Tours on their website. The current one being featured, Liz Lange's, is enough to make me want to grab all of her patterns and scrap with them! I mean, don't you just love those pillows and zebra skin rug? :)

..ack..

I know it has been several, several days since I updated. After that post about me being sick, it got worse. I spent the next 4 days in bed, feeling miserable. But I'm better now!! I have a couple of projects I'm working on, so I will get those posted in the next day or so. Jeff is home, so it's hard to work on stuff while he's here. He's so needy :) (I'm only saying that because I know he reads my blog) Tee hee :)

So anyway, projects soon, I promise. I will leave you with a super cute picture of my little girl, Pogue...

..i spy..

I woke up this morning worse than yesterday. Even standing up too long makes me tired. So I am under orders from Jeff and my mom to do nothing but sit or lay around. Well I can't just lay there and be unproductive, so I got the "ok" to scrap while I'm taking it easy.

I made this mini album using some coasters I found at the dollar store. I just peeled the cork off of the bottom (they're cheap, so it came off really easily) and sanded the top. Then I covered one side with some MME Magnolia paper, and painted the other side light blue. Then I stamped some flourishes, added some light paint swipes and stamped the journaling lines. The coasters had rounded edges, so I rounded my photos too. Jeff was nice enough to drill the holes for me. You can't operate machinery when you're on medication you know, it says so on the bottle! Then I just added my little rings and voila! I used rings so that I can add more pages later. The idea for this came from a challenge at The Design Experiment to make a project based on your senses.

..sickie..

I'm sick :( It's all Jeffrey's fault. He was sick first, then lovingly drank out of the milk jug. But I suppose I would have caught it anyway.. I mean we do occasionally get face to face :) So anyway, I'm feeling yucky, and don't want to do anything... there's so much to do around the house and I just want to sit on the couch.

I thought some pink might help. Pink always makes me feel better. So here is a mosaic for my viewing pleasure, but please, look at it all you want :)

..thanks..

Just wanted to make a quick post to tell all of the moms out there Happy Mother's Day! I'm trying to make my rounds in two different states to see all of my "moms." There's my actual mom, my stepmom, my mom in law, and three grandmothers.. But they're all the greatest.

I seriously doubt my kitties got me anything for Mother's Day, but I know they love me, and that's all that matters :)

Love to all out there in Blog Land!

..love to do it..

..but glad it's over! The wedding went really well. The cakes turned out nice, and the weather cooperated for my friend's outdoor wedding. The cakes were just stressing me out because one was 4-tier and one was 3-tier, and I only have 1 oven! Lol. So I was confined to my house for about 3 days straight getting these done, but she was happy with the way they came out, and that's all that really matters :)

..happy may day..

May already.. And here it came in all it's sunshiney glory. Beautiful weather, but did I get to go outside and enjoy it? No :( Today has been a baking day. I have a wedding on Saturday, with a 4-tier and a 3-tier cake to do, plus an additional 2-tier sheet cake. So I've been busy :) But, I did have time to take my picture for the POTD Challenge over at All Moments Remembered! And to me, this photo seemed appropriate :)
